So I live in North Carolina, and decided not to vote early, because my pick might drop out and I didn’t want to “waste” my vote. Now Super Tuesday is less than 48 hours away, and I’m totally conflicted.
My original first choice was Kamala Harris; when she dropped out, I switched to Klobuchar. But Amy, I think, made her last great stand in New Hampshire. So now do I vote for Amy, Warren, or Biden?
If Amy had dropped out, I was going to go with Warren because I am just so tired of white men, and especially old white men. But it appears that Warren doesn’t have an obvious path forward any more than Klobuchar does.
I can’t stand Bernie, and think he would be a disaster in November. There are four or five reasons why I believe he can’t win, but here’s the biggest one for me: The African-American electorate, which I know is not monolithic, has never warmed up to him, and he’s never warmed up to them. Bernie has had four years to come south, get to know black American lives, struggles, hopes, and fears, and I can’t recall him ever being present in Virginia, NC, SC, Georgia, Mississippi, or Alabama during that period of time (please correct me if I’m wrong). And the nominee can’t win without black enthusiasm and turnout.
Most pundits say Bernie will have it all locked up after Tuesday. Given that, I’m taking a second look at ol’ Joe, who appear to be the only one who can stop Bernie (I will NEVER vote for a billionaire, whether it’s Bloomberg or someone else).
I’ve always voted with my heart, not my head, and my heart says Amy, but my head says Joe. What does the community recommend?
