In what can be seen as an act of revenge against New York and New Yorkers, Trump is surrendering Afghanistan to the Taliban and that process has now started.
The very people who sheltered Bin Laden and his Conservative Islamists who attacked America are being rewarded for
The Afghan government, who the US spent billions of dollars and lost many lives to defend are not part of this surrender deal and in fact they have been ordered by the Trump administration to release 5000 Taliban prisoners.
Trump claims that the Taliban has given them their word that they will reduce levels of violence against the Afghan people. In fact, after the deal was signed, Taliban attacks on the Afghan people and its government have increased. The word of the Taliban is worth as much as the word of Trump.
Trump had planned to give the Taliban a victory party at Camp David but even Republicans balked at that act of treason.
The Taliban has not renounced 9/11 and they are still tied to Al Queda.
Despite the increase in violence and the refusal of the Taliban to renounce the 9/11 attack, Trump is moving ahead with troop reduction. The number of American forces will fall from 13,000 to 8,600.
Some 5,000 Taliban prisoners and 1,000 Afghan security force prisoners would be exchanged by 10 March, when talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government are due to start.
Trump will also lift sanctions against the Taliban and will press the UN to do the same.
Surrendering Afghanistan to the Taliban now is fraught with danger. The Presidential election left the fledgling democracy more divided than ever. President Ashraf Ghani, who was declared the winner of last September's election, his rival Abdullah Abdullah, has claimed the vote was fraudulent and he lodged a challenge with the Country’s elections complaints commission. President Ashraf Ghani was inaugurated yesterday (March 9, 2020) but his challenger also held an inauguration.
There is therefore a real prospect of violent disunity that the Taliban will foster.
America had international support for the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan. It squandered that support on the Bush / Blair folly of the Iraq war. Trump wants a deal, to get US troops out of Afghanistan, he wants any deal, no matter who he betrays.
Where is Liz Cheney now? Hypocritical war-warmonger.

Update from the comments, I’m not pro war but where are the war hawks like Liz Cheney? Do they want this? Do the thousands of Americans and Afghans who died fighting the Taliban count for nothing?
We should be reacting to this the way Republicans would have done if President Obama had tried this.
