Biden was nowhere on my list of preferred candidates. I wanted Harris, then switched to Castro, and then to Warren (I was always Warren-curious though, she was always my #2 before she became my #1).
I think Warren would have been fabulous for our country. I voted for her in North Carolina with pride. But I knew going in that she wouldn’t win. People are scared, a lot of people love her but switched to Biden because he was a safer choice. I wish it was otherwise but I cannot fault the reasoning.
Bernie has never been on my list. Yes, I would vote for him over Trump but I would never door knock or anything else to help him get elected.
For my state, given where the race currently stands, Biden is simply better.
We have a real shot to flip North Carolina blue again and wrest control from the hard liner Republicans who took over in 2010. But to do that we need huge turnout from Dems and cross party voting. Why do we need cross party voting? Because of gerrymandering. In my state, appealing to moderate Republicans is just an is. We need them to accomplish anything that matters here.
Bernie would kill Dem turnout in North Carolina. And he would also kill cross party voting. Putting him at the top of the ticket would doom my state and I think there are a lot of other states in a similar position.
I wish this race had played out differently but it didn’t. I don’t love Biden but it doesn’t matter. I am 100% in his corner.
