First Diary to Establish New Group
NAME: Covid-19 State-by-State
PURPOSE:
A temporary group to aggregate diaries by anyone who wishes to contribute informative pieces based on FACTS only. Reports are to be dependent on statistics from health departments, newspaper articles, and media originating with government and health OFFICIALS. Opinions and anecdotes will be welcome in comments. The duration of the Group will be throughout the duration of the pandemic in the USA.
Everyone who wishes is invited to queue and publish to the group. Please follow publishing guidelines above. Please format your diary to be informative and clear. Please refrain from “commenting” within the diary text, but feel free to add comments to start threads and reply to commenters as you feel inclined.
Conspiracy theories, unsourced work will be deleted by the Administrator from the Group queue. For identification purposes include the group name in the tags “Covid19 State by State” (without hyphens) to facilitate readers; further minimum suggested tags should include state your diary reports from and the title of your diary; helpful keywords are appropriate.
Below is my introductory diary. I hope it stimulates more of the same so that we can create a useful resource for all Daily Kos readers.

DISCUSSION
Most cases are in Fulton County, home of the nation’s busiest airport, Hartfield-Jackson, followed by Cobb County, immediately adjacent. The city of Atlanta and urban Metro-Atlanta occupy these two counties.
Today, 9 doctors are reported infected in the state. First(AM) and second(PM) senior care facility cases also reported.
- Universities, public schools, industry ex. railroad HQ for Norfolk Southern, Coca-Cola, etc. are closed or, requesting “non-essential” employees tele-work from home.
- No SEC spring sports — all forbidden.
- Students at Emory U. evicted from dorms. GaTech students told not to return from spring break — go home instead.
- Many public lower grades schools delivering meals, some providing pick-up meals. Fast food restaurants adopting drive-thru only dining service.
- Emory U. Hospital cancels all elective procedures; patients across the state advised to cancel or postpone them.
- Retired pulmonary specialist physicians (and possibly respiratory health professionals) requested by letter to apply to hospitals for return to work.
- Some Christian churches offering online Sunday services only.
These are just a few statistics about the pandemic’s impact on Georgia, and examples of interdiction activities undertaken to flatten the curve of infection in this state.
