Short diary but I think it is important. The messaging from the Democratic party should be clear, easy to understand, and should get repeated over and over.
And that message is, “the President was negligent, and thousands of Americans died”.
He was negligent in ignoring the warnings from his national security advisers and public health advisers.
He was negligent in not doing preventative actions sooner.
He was negligent in not utilizing his authority to ensure hospitals had enough resources.
He was negligent by calling a real threat a “hoax”.
Thousands of Americans died, because the President was negligent in his first duty, protect the American people.
Just say that over and over, every Democratic voice on TV. And when we (very likely) cross the 10,000 death level, say the same thing except say, “Tens of thousands of Americans died, because the President was negligent in his first duty, protect the American people.”
The key is to have a consistent message, and say it over and over again until it becomes conventional wisdom. The repetition part is where I think Democratic messaging is usually inferior to Republican messaging. Republicans will say, “Candidate X will raise your taxes” about a million times, and it works. We need to do the same here. Pin the novel coronavirus disaster to Trump.
