So it appears that despite Mike Pence lauding the bold and decisive measures Dear Leader has taken to contain the import of Covid19 from known hotspots into the United States, there is little to no screening happening at our major international airports. While it is true that countries like South Korea and Italy are taking passenger temperatures before people board flights to the US, no similar measures are being taken once people land. And no information is being given to people coming from those countries about what to do once in the United States.
To wit, JFK responded:
So that is the protocol. If you don’t have a mild fever when boarding, you are in the clear. What if you get a fever en route? After your are home? Apparently, you have to figure that out yourself because there are no guidelines provided.
From Atlanta’s local CBS Affiliate:
The CDC confirmed to CBS46 reporter Jamie Kennedy that screenings for passengers coming to the U.S. from Italy and South Korea were happening in the country of origin but not stateside for those passengers.
However, the agency did not respond to why the U.S. is not doing its own screenings for passengers coming from those two countries.
So not only are we not testing for community spread in the United States, we are not screening travelers coming in from known virus hotspots and have no protocol for people to follow once they are back home.
Heck of a job, Pencie. Things are going great.
