Okay, so I thought about this analogy as I was commenting on a diary about Biden’s Super Tuesday success. Disclosure: I was supporting Warren, and I would have voted for her in the New York primary if she stayed in despite the fact that, yes, she couldn’t get to a plurality after Tuesday.
Many MAGAts voted for Trump because they think they are anti-establishment and wanted to “burn down the house.” The Obama to Trump voter was likely a “pox on both your houses” kind of person. Don’t watch Trump Rallies, but if you catch a glimpse, he never says anything. “We’re doing great “things” and you can see results in the next “very short period of time” or “We’re going to have big beautiful (insert issue here)”.
We always knew who he was, but his base- they eat this up- it’s all the sugar of your favorite treat and nothing else. Why does the media treat a guy who LOST by nearly 3 million votes and who has NEVER polled above 50% who’s polling average is around 42% as invincible?
I viewed my vote for Secretary Clinton (and I was excited to vote FOR her) as also a vote against Hitler. Those who thought I was engaging in hyperbole 4 years ago are eating crow (I hope crow is Kosher).
So here we are- and the house is burning. Bernie wants to fight fire with fire. Elizabeth wants to build a better house. Joe wants to take us back to BT (Before Trump).
Like many here on DKos, I wanted the better house. America has spoken and they want BT. I have often referred to President Obama as a Moderate Republican (I remember when they existed). Guess what! I have a plan for that!
We flip the Senate, KY, SC, and 2 GA seats are close, Moscow Mitch! Senator Warren takes her plans to Speaker Pelosi’s office with Majority Leader Schumer. President Biden will sign the progressive agenda they send to his desk.
So, okay. I’m fine that Biden is going to be the nominee- let’s make him President. He can put out the fire. Warren can meet with the architects and build the better house. Stacey Abrams is the best choice for VP.
