Trump is using Twitter to encourage those right-wing idiots who want Michigan and Minnesota (and also Ohio and Virginia) to drop their stay-at-home orders. In response, Governor Jay Inslee (D-WA), whose state was the first to be hit by the coronavirus, issued an official statement today:
“The president’s statements this morning encourage illegal and dangerous acts. He is putting millions of people in danger of contracting COVID-19. His unhinged rantings and calls for people to “liberate” states could also lead to violence. We’ve seen it before.
"The president is fomenting domestic rebellion and spreading lies even while his own administration says the virus is real and is deadly, and that we have a long way to go before restrictions can be lifted. . . .
"Less than 24 hours later [after releasing a plan to reopen the country], the president is off the rails. He’s not quoting scientists and doctors but spewing dangerous, anti-democratic rhetoric. [emphasis added]
The President of the United States is “off the rails.” So says the governor of the great state of Washington.
He isn’t the only governor openly disgusted with Trump. Gov Cuomo's frustration boils over after Trump Twitter attack — though that attack was on Cuomo for “not doing his job.”
Governors had decided they had to swallow their gorge and be nice to Trump if they were going to get supplies and equipment from FEMA and other federal agencies. Now it seems they can’t swallow any more. To update an earlier diary line of mine: The bovine byproduct is now heading at warp speed on a fanward trajectory.
