In 2019 Republicans held an event in Washington State to promote a miracle cure that claimed 95% of all diseases in the world could be cured by making adults and children, including infants, drink industrial bleach.
Republican “Tom Merry” was inviting members of the public through Facebook to attend what they call their “effective alternative healing” at the Icicle Village Resort. The Republican claimed bleach “could save your life, or the life of a loved one sent home to die”.
Money making Republicans were asked to pay $450 each, or $800 per couple, in exchange for receiving membership to the organization as well as packages of the bleach, which they call “sacraments”. The chemical is referred to as MMS, or “miracle mineral solution or supplement”, and participants are promised they will acquire “the knowledge to help heal many people of this world’s terrible diseases”.
MMS consists of chlorine dioxide, used both on textiles and in the industrial treatment of water. It is a bleach. Despite Trump promoting the consumption of bleach it is banned around the world for use as a medical treatment.
The product cannot be sold for human consumption. In 2010, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) put out a public warning after it was notified of many injuries to consumers from drinking the fluid, with symptoms that included nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, severe dehydration.
The “red tape”, government regulations and safety regulations are all being hacked away in the name of profit over health by the Trump admin.
In 2019 The Guardian contacted Republicans for why they were peddling peddling industrial bleach described by the FDA as potentially dangerous as a miracle cure, but they did not immediately respond.
In Ireland in 2015 the government’s Health Products Regulatory Authority investigators, supported by gardaí and the Regional Support Unit, raided premises controlled by Merlehan at Ark Recycling, Moone, Co Kildare on 6 November 2014 and seized MMS-making material.
RTE reported them as a dangerous cult.
Trump’s lunacy did not appear out of nowhere. He is picking up on and using every single fundamentalist Evangelical conspiracy theory to get REAPPOINTED — HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT BEING RE-ELECTED.
WHEN IT COMES TO TRUMP THERE IS ALWAYS MONEY TO FOLLOW. DON’T FOLLOW THE DENIALS FOLLOW THE MONEY.
