Hello everybody.
A couple days ago I posted a diary where I wrote that I would like to make a website showing the number of ventilators in each state. Governor Cuomo has said that he doesn’t have enough ventilators and that states should share. Without knowing how many ventilators in each state, it would be hard to share.
The response that I got was that it would not be possible to get such data, and I should leave it to the government.
Well I started on the project. The results so far are shown below. This is a Google Doc which shows up very nicely in the diary.
What I found is that you can do pretty well by using publicly available data. The data isn’t perfect but perhaps its as good as one can do. Some of the states have values of 0. For some states, its really not possible to know. Some states are deliberately not releasing their numbers. I think they should. I think this spreadsheet may push them to release the numbers.
If anyone would like to volunteer to improve the spreadsheet because I have not filled in some of the rows, let me know. I think the best way is to do a Google Search: for example “how many ventilators Wyoming”.
You can list your findings below or email them to me and I would add them to the spreadsheet.
Any comments welcomed.
Also I’d like to publicize the list. If no one sees it, then its not that useful.
