CNN has just reported:
Most importantly: “The White House has not released the modeling estimates they've received or how they analyzed them.” However, it is known that the WH has gotten modeling information from a number of researchers and evaluations from the CDC.
What’s going on here? One possibility:
The general election will not occur until seven months from now. Before then, we will see Covid-19 run its course, we will see deaths, and in October we will be assessing the Trump Presidency in light of this crisis.
So if you’re Donald Trump, and you now know that the crisis outcome will be worse than you originally hoped and stated, what’s your best rhetorical strategy to look good in the end?

And then crow to the world how great you are when you BEAT that INFLATED number.
CNN may have just busted Trump.
In related news, U.W. researchers responsible for the most widely publicized model have revised down their estimates based on newly obtained data. The U.W. researchers have been transparent that they would be adapting their model based on new data (models are based on data), and they got a new data trove.
Which brings to mind this quote from Dr. Fauci:
Now who has more data than anyone else? Likely, the CDC. And on that, CNN observes:
This story may end up having some legs.
