Here’s a timely parable for the folks who doubt the experts on the perils of #covid19 .
This is a portrait of Harry Truman, owner of the Mount St. Helens Lodge which was located on Spirit Lake at the base of Mount St. Helens. Despite all the warnings given by geologists about the impending eruption of #mountsthelens , Harry thought he knew better and refused to leave the area. His most brazen quote on the subject was "...the mountain has shot its wad and it hasn't hurt my place a bit, but those goddamn geologists with their hair down to their butts wouldn't pay no attention to ol' Truman."
Of course he was fatally proven wrong on the morning of May 18th, 1980, when the mountain erupted and buried him under 150ft. of landslide and pyroclastic flow.
Proving once again that flaw in human nature to absolutely refute overwhelming evidence until it's too late to do anything about it. It’s kind of like now with those who dismiss the threat of the pandemic and refuse to take the least little precautions like wearing a mask.
Science! Bah! Who needs it?
Apparently, We all do.
