Like me, are you feeling angry, disgusted and just plain sick of waking up to things like this?
- Racists “calling out” our candidate for a non-racist “gaffe”
- R’s like Nikki Haley, who has blood on her hands for the deaths of thousands of people of all colors in SC by refusing Medicaid Expansion, daring to say the “gaffe” was “gut-wrenching”
- The spectacle of someone who should not even be allowed to be or run for President playing golf as a hundred thousand deaths are recorded
- Republicans all over committing depraved indifference crimes by opening churches, restaurants and parks.
Well — There is something you can do about it right now!
Thanks to the efforts of superhero Janelle Christenson, as well as 90for90.org , Demcast, and others, the 140 District Project is closing in on its twin goals:
1. Recruit Democratic candidates for all 140 legislative districts on the ballot in Florida; and
2. Raise the $1,800 needed to get them all on the ballot
Here’s an article in Florida Politics about the 140 District Project
You can do any or all of these:
- Recommend this diary.
- Contribute! Any amount — $5, $10, $25, up to $1,000 per candidate (at least one person on Kos has done this)
- Share this diary on Facebook, Twitter, Email, Indivisible etc.
Just a few weeks ago there were 30 Republicans running unopposed in FL State Legislative Elections. Now it’s down to six (shown in orange on the map above). If you live in or near or know someone in one of those districts recruit them!
As for the fee, we are down to only 12 candidates running who need the $1,800 filing fee, so please consider giving any amount to as many of the candidates below (up to the $1,000 per candidate limit).

Why do this?
- Merely having Democratic candidates in a District increases Democratic turnout for President and Congress
- Having Democrats in “safe” R districts forces Republicans to spend there, taking away resources from other Districts.
- Having a candidate energizes Democrats in the district to participate and donate on state, congressional and Presidential levels.
- The recruited candidates will help contribute to future Democratic leadership, and maybe even a “star” will emerge.
Let’s do it.
