I am asking you to stop right now and donate to Planned Parenthood Texas Votes. No amount is too small; every bit, every single dollar makes a difference. I’ll tell you why below. Please click the link below and support Planned Parenthood.
If you post in comments or email (fishmac @ gmail . com) a copy of the receipt or bank transaction – no personal info is needed; a screencap of the amount and that it went to Planned Parenthood is enough – we access matching funds from an anonymous woman which double your donation to Planned Parenthood. You give $5, she will give $5, Planned Parenthood gets $10. Magic.
Who decides what a person can do with their own body?
Meet Richelle Morales.
Her first pregnancy had been a very difficult pregnancy complete with a hemorrhage at birth. Fortunately, Richelle had a beautiful, healthy baby.
Richelle and her partner decided to have another child. If the first pregnancy was difficult, this one was a medical nightmare. Inexplicable weight gain despite being unable to eat, gestational diabetes, symptoms of liver failure but lab results contradicting the symptoms. High risk of another hemorrhage.
Richelle’s second child was born on Halloween of 2017 and she decided that was enough – the health risks were too great to have another child. In January 2018 she had a tubal ligation.
Normal menstrual cycle in February; looked like things were on track. But in March, Richelle had no period and started to feel like hell. Her OB brought her in for a hormone panel. Richelle got a phone call from the doctor. Not the nurse, not the assistant, the doctor. Richelle was pregnant.
“I'm sitting, parked in my car with my two beautiful babies at the sitter so I could have lunch with friends the only thing I wanted to do was hit the gas and wrap my car around a pole somewhere. I would kill myself before I'd go through another pregnancy. And I was assured vehemently by the doctor, it most likely could kill me.”
Planned Parenthood to the rescue.
These folks.
“No judgement. Imagine the look on their faces when I said I'd had surgery 10 weeks prior to tie my tubes. Everything thoroughly explained. Indescribable kindness. Scientifically and clinically accurate information. ALL OPTIONS PRESENTED TO ME. Parenting, Adoption, Abortion.
I chose abortion. Quickly, confidently and with zero regrets. My abortion SAVED MY LIFE. I say it over and over and over. I say it loud. I say it when my friends and family are uncomfortable. I shout my abortion.
Because abortion is healthcare. Abortion, to me, was the only option. Abortion prevented me from killing myself out of fear that I'd have to endure another miserable pregnancy or take on another baby I couldn't handle under the duress of post-partum.”
Who decides? Richelle? Or the man in the fake bloody surgeon’s outfit below shouting judgement and hatred at women like Richelle?
To me it is crystal clear: YOUR BODY, YOUR CHOICE. The organization I most believe in for this is Planned Parenthood. That is where I ask you to give today. Now.
This fundraiser started with $38.00 of contributions on day one. We are now at $5,307 and we still have a few days left. If you believe reproductive health is important to us all, now is the time to defend it.
Again, please post in comments or email (fishmac @ gmail . com) a copy of the receipt or bank transaction – no personal info is needed; a screencap of the amount and that it went to Planned Parenthood is enough for us to access matching funds.
Thank you.
