All of this is very sad. I need to say that my sadness levels, frustration levels, helplessness levels were already saturated when I watched yet another black human being murdered by a white police man. Then to see all the destruction that has flowed from our very real institutional racism just draws a line under how insidious and how odious we as a society have treated our black and brown fellow humans. Adding the Corona virus to this has shown a light on the continuing efforts of white society to keep black people down down down. This same anger is being expressed across the county.
We abhor the violence yes, but I would like you all to contrast the violent protest of last night to the violent, yet premeditatedly calm murder of Mr. George Floyd and all the other Mr. Floyds that have experienced the violence of our racism and hatred. We cannot loose sight of the basic ugliness of our white dominance in our world. What has happened and what is still happening with these sanctioned murderous incidents is far more injurious to the moral fabric of our institutions than the destruction of property. Ask yourself how you would feel if you feared for your children every time they engaged in their world.
