Everyone’s experience these days is different, yet one constant I seem to hear is that ‘time has no meaning’ … we barely know what day it is unless it’s Shopping Day, in which case we’re so filled with anxious dread we don’t sleep the night before. Grab a beverage, hop across the story break, and settle in while, in that spirit of ‘what day is it’ and ‘time can’t possibly be linear’ I bring you the story of a girl...
Here at Top Comments we welcome longtime as well as brand new Daily Kos readers to join us at 10pm Eastern. We strive to nourish community by rounding up some of the site's best, funniest, most mojo'd & most informative commentary, and we depend on your help!! If you see a comment by another Kossack that deserves wider recognition, please send it either to topcomments at gmail or to the Top Comments group mailbox by 9:30pm Eastern. Please please please include a few words about why you sent it in as well as your user name (even if you think we know it already :-)), so we can credit you with the find!
This is going to look like a very short diary, but actually is not (see, time can be deceiving!).
My very first Top Comments diary was about the child known back then as Kid Brillig, but in deference to her younger brother’s arrival is now known as K1. (I am sure she graced the Cheers & Jeers comment section, but I am not wading through 18000+ comments to check!) She was nine at the time.
You were with us when she got chicken pox, and you were there when she broke a milestone best time as a competitive swimmer.
You listened to me grumble about school several times, and also share tales of her perseverence, too.
You heard about the time K1 and I went to the Warren — Brown MA-Senate debate. You may not remember being there for her first Netroots Nation (as well as every one since then!)
Only a blink of an eye ago, she was accepted to the same University Mr. Brillig and I attended.
And last Friday, she turned in her last paper. While Commencement may be virtual for the Class of 2020, and her department ceremony live-via-Zoom, the degree conferred in just under two weeks will be real, and that nine year old you first met will have earned her B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy. She’s home with us for the summer and come September will be back at the same University to begin graduate school. She wants to be a school counselor.
See, it’s a short diary, but there’s no way that kid you all met is now almost 22. Because that would mean a lot of time has passed, and it was just yesterday. Right? Thank you for being there for all of it.
While I try to figure out where all this time went, please enjoy tonight’s Tops, brought to you by BeninSC!

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down. Please remember that comment inclusion in Top Comments does not constitute support or endorsement by diarist, formatter, Top Comments writers, Barack Obama or DailyKos. Questions, complaints or comments? Contact brillig.

Is this comment by first last that affirms that the young people in our country are following their own path when it comes to the mistakes and black-white thinking of the partriarchy, in a thread about that.

Is this comment by henrythefifth, about the police penchant for using ‘social distancing’ in very different ways, depending on the ethnicity of the people being examined.
