Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin’s (D. IL) re-election campaign:
Big news: the Supreme Court just granted 700,000 young people in America a new lease on life, ruling against the Trump Administration's cruel attempt to end DACA.
I first introduced the Dream Act in 2001. For nearly 20 years, I've been fighting to protect Dreamers and I'm relieved today's decision will allow these young people to stay in the U.S., continue to pursue their education and career dreams.
But the Supreme Court's ruling isn't enough. It left room for the Trump Administration to rescind DACA again in the future.
We need permanent protections and certainty for Dreamers. Add your name now if you agree.
Thanks to this Supreme Court decision today, Dreamers across this country have another day in America -- another day without fear of deportation
But we cannot rest until we know Dreamers are here to stay for good. Mitch McConnell must bring the House-passed American Dream and Promise Act for a vote now.
Let's tell Donald Trump not now, not ever. Sign on now to permanently protect Dreamers.
Thank you,
Dick Durbin
