As the Vichy Congressional Republicans continue their unwavering and unanimous public support for everything that Donald Trump says and does, Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski from Alaska has taken one step up on the no-spine scale, I guess, by moving from a Susan Collins level of “concern” to a perhaps slightly less spineless level of “struggling,” per the Washington Post.
Mind you, what Murkowski is “struggling” with is what to say about Trump. She does praise General Mattis’s statement about Trump, which I guess is something, but refuses to share her own views about Trump.
“When I saw Gen. Mattis’s comments yesterday, I felt like perhaps we’re getting to the point where we can be more honest with the concerns that we might hold internally and have the courage of our own convictions to speak up,” Murkowski said. “And so I’m working as one individual to form the right words, knowing that these words really matter. So I appreciate Gen. Mattis’s comments”
Translation: I’m glad that Gen. Mattis spoke up, and wish that I wasn’t too chickens$%t to speak up because I don’t have the courage of my own convictions.
Murkowski goes on to say that “we are all struggling with ways to express the words that need to be expressed appropriately.” If, after three and half years of the Trump administration, Murkowski still can’t figure out any words to say about Trump, she’s as worthless at Lindsey Graham, perhaps more so. Just spewing a bunch of mealy-mouth words that amount to nothing. Sad that this is what WaPo considers a “major break” from Trump.
