Hello, writers. I hope everyone is holding it together as well as can be expected right now. Many thanks to the doughty mettle fatigue for hosting last week and for keeping this ship afloat.
With an eye— or more likely both eyes and possibly a nose as well— on the news, it just keeps getting harder to write. So it seems like a good time to ask…
What’s the fun part?
Of writing? For you?
For me it’s dialogue, especially when I’ve managed to put two characters together who are bound to annoy each other. And if they have to solve a problem together despite being annoyed, so much the better.
Do try this at home…
Tonight’s challenge:
Two characters who are bound to annoy each other have to cross a bridge, urgently. Who they are and wy they have to cross is up to you. They’re being chased, or the Jewel of Togwogomagog is on the other side, or both. Or something else. But it’s dark, it’s raining, and they can’t see the bridge clearly. And the bridge may not be in very good shape.
Get them across. Try to engage at least 3 senses.
Write On! will be a regular Thursday feature (8 pm ET 5 pm PT) until it isn't.
