Yes, you read that correctly: As of today, I’ve raised over $320,000 for Democratic U.S. Senate candidates this cycle.
I’ve also raised nearly $50,000 to keep the U.S. House blue and another $50,000 to expand the blue House further yet!
I’m proud of this and plan on keeping it going...but there’s one area where I’m coming up short of my expectations so far: Flipping state legislatures!
As anyone who hangs out here should know, state House/Senate seats are critical to everything from setting policy to redistricting...yet they tend to get ignored as everyone focuses on the statewide and federal races.
The irony is that in many cases you can get more bang for your buck from donating to a state legislative race—in some races the entire campaign might cost less than $100,000 from start to finish, vs. millions for a U.S. House or Senate seat.
In all seriousness: If I was rich and could afford to donate, say, $100K, I’d donate $1,000 apiece to 100 state legislative races around the country instead of dumping it all into a federal PAC or whatever. The money goes directly to the local campaigns who presumably have a better idea of the best way to utilize it.
Help me resolve this issue by donating to one or more Dems running in the following races:
