From Merriam-Webster:
demagogue
a leader who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power
From Wiki:
A demagogue, a popular leader, a leader of a mob, people, populace, the commons or rabble-rouser, is a leader who gains popularity in a democracy by exploiting emotions, prejudice, and ignorance to arouse some against others, whipping up the passions of the crowd and shutting down reasoned deliberation. Demagogues overturn established norms of political conduct, or promise or threaten to do so.
That pretty much sums up Trump. Seriously, “a leader who gains popularity in a democracy by exploiting emotions, prejudice, and ignorance to arouse some against others...” Does that not describe every Trump speech?
From Merriam-Webster:
1: a mythological being with more power than a mortal but less than a god
2: a person so outstanding as to seem to approach the divine
From wiki:
A demigod or demi-god is a minor deity, or a mortal or immortal who is the offspring of a god and a human, or a figure who has attained divine status after death.
And this is what Trump thinks he is. Don’t feed his ego by mistaking the two.
Last night while listening to MSNBC waxing on and on about Mary Trump saying she had heard Donald say the N-word and anti-Semitic slurs (duh), one of the commentators referred to Trump as a demigod. Out of the other room I heard a shout; “IT’S DEMAGOGUE! NOT DEMIGOD! DAMMIT!” So it wasn’t just my ears. I don’t mind people trying to say wise and informed statements, but use the right words. This isn’t rocket science. It’s grammar.
