Per the Sioux Falls Argus Leader
A Sioux Falls man who used his connections in the conservative movement to help his Russian girlfriend gain political access was sentenced Monday to serve seven years in federal prison.
Paul Erickson was not charged with any wrongdoing involving his efforts to help Maria Butina make inroads with political contacts. Instead, he was accused of defrauding investors in various schemes over the last 20 years.
Erickson, who’d been involved in many Republican campaigns since the 80s, was also — and this might be difficult to believe — a serial fraudster. When the feds took a close look at him during the Butina investigation, they uncovered several instances when he’d ripped off people through investments in bogus schemes.
This isn’t much of a post; just a heads up about how this particular thread wound up.
I hope that we’ll be seeing many more grifters sent away, after this long nightmare has finished. Biden’s AG may have to appoint dozens of Special Prosecutors to even hope to go after even a fraction of the bastards who’ve been ripping off the country during this crime spree.
