Lou Holtz, former ESPN commentator, left the network with a history of interesting quotes and theories about how to play the game of football. A firm Trump supporter, Holtz before the Big 10 ended their season, Holtz was interviewed and compared the importance of college football to the invasion of Normandy in an appearance on Fox News. as Reported by Deadspin.
“The way it is right now, they just don’t want to have sports and there’s no way in this world that you can do anything in this world without a risk,” said Holtz. “People stormed Normandy… they knew there were going to be casualties, they knew there were going to be risks but it was a way of life.”
And today, we learn just how far the need to keep your job really goes.
In segments airing on Fox News today, Holtz attacked the Big 10 and continued to demand that the sport reconsider.
Holtz has been a prolific supporter of President Trump, writing editorials, appearing at events, and speaking out on networks about Trump.
The interview today may provide another example of a coach saying something ridiculous — that college football is like Normandy- but it reminds me far more of another Lou Holtz quote: On this team, we're all united in a common goal: to keep my job.
Because that is exactly where Trump is. The only message he has is the same: damned if you all risk your health and safety, I need you to make sure I keep my job.
