Since I wrote this the whole deal between UAE and Israel just broke, which makes points I orginally posted moot. I am very excited for this deal as I hope it will be another well needed stepping stone to peace in the Middle East.
Haaretz has a very interesting article on tRump’s relationship with Republican Jews and how tRump has “changed” his positions and allies just to try to get money to support his falling bid to get re-elected. It should come as no shock that the man has little use for old “friends” and views….other than keeping him in power.
You might remember when he made his first statement to American, Republican, Jews. Now if I heard this...and I was a Republican I’d abandon him right then and there, but hey...what can I say? I’m no Republican…I put part of his quote in bold.
“You’re not gonna support me even though you know I’m the best thing that could ever happen to Israel,” he said in his maiden appearance before the Republican Jewish Coalition. “And I know why you’re not going to support me. You’re not going to support me because I don’t want your money.”
I would have heard this dog whistle and run far and fast.
Now he attacks his largest Jewish Republican donor for not giving him *enough* money….and he has run to find another sugar daddy.
Never mind that many other Jews are (I admit I am) strident defenders of Israel, but tRump is *not*. The only reason he supports us an Israel is to make his fundy supporters happy. These fundies hate us Jews, I am sure, but they want us alive and in Israel so their myths can come true. If it was not for that their true feelings, I think, would come out.
tRump has gotten into a very
public disagreement with Sheldon Adelson about not giving him enough money,
It seems that to get his release of money, Adelson wanted a quid-pro-quo from the president regarding the coronavirst relief bill.
Turns out tRump might have found a new sugar daddy who held a rally for him in New Jersey… who introduced tRump as the “greatest president” in the history of the United States. This man is Haim Chera a principal in Crown Acquisitions and one of three sons of its founders. tRump just changed his tune on his plan for Israel and the Iran deal.
This time the support for tRump seems to come down to the sanctions deal with Iran. He promised that he would have a new deal with Iran if he was elected...which at first makes no sense…. as he ran against any such deal. But…
But…
From all of the leaked excerpts and reports of Trump’s remarks to the supportive right-wing American Jewish crowd on Sunday, some of the omissions were perhaps as telling as what he actually said. There was no sign of the U.S. president mentioning now-embattled Prime Minister – a friendship both leaders made a point of continually spotlighting not long ago. And while Trump teased a supposed future Iran deal, there was no mention of the Israeli-Palestinian so-called Deal of the Century, or even a hint of evidence of support for annexation of parts of the West Bank.
But since Netanyahu has not dismissed totally such talks, tRump knows to not seem to back him or the annexation.
So what has changed? The wind. So Trump has changed his positions...imagine that. And yet his drones continue to support him.

This deal could be a huge break as it is the first time Israel has diplomatic relations with Gulf Arab countries and Israel has put a stop to the annexations.
