I have been trying for three months to get an appointment to record an address change at a Michigan Secretary of State office. Their website says online appointments are required for address changes with enhanced drivers' licenses, but no advance appointments are available before December, and no same-day appointments are ever available at any branch office. I've tried looking for appointments at a dozen different offices not just in my local county but all around the lower peninsula. Same result: no appointments available. Ever.
I'd welcome any suggestions from anyone who knows how a citizen can fulfill the basic requirements to be correctly registered to vote before the election is past. At this point, it appears that the Secretary of State's office is, in effect, blocking any Michigan resident who has changed addresses in the past six months from voting.
