This is hard for me to write because, as a lifetime St. Louis Cardinal fan, I really hate the Yankees. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t respect the competence and consistent, professional, effective play of the team that has won more World Championships than any other team in baseball’s major leagues (Cardinals are 2nd).
I watched the entire Democratic National Convention and sampled the GOP shit show last night. If the conventions are viewed as a kind of competition, it’s been sort of like watching the Yankees play the Bad News Bears, before the Bears got Tatum O’Neal to pitch for them.
Joe and Kamala demonstrated, last week, that they and their party are truly five tool players. They competently and efficiently threw their messages into play. They totally caught the mood of most Americans. They hit their messages right on the sweet spot one after another. The Democrats’ messages ran circles around the bleak hate and dark fears of the Republicans and the Democrat’s engaging, entertaining and inspirational convention totally stole the show.
By comparison, last night, and for the next three nights, presumably, the GOP players showed up without their gloves and obviously have no balls. The Republicans aren’t even on the same playing field as the Democrats, basing their entire game plan upon an imaginary America and an imaginary Democratic ticket. The stadium where the GOP wants to play only exists inside their head.
I hope the umpires call a fair game.
