Ethan Roeder of Forward Majority has alarming news that might even surprise those clicking refresh every ten minutes at 538.com.
As Ethan writes in USA Today, downballot Democrats are losing the money race in key state legislative races that will determine the make up of Congress for the next ten years:
Democratic competitiveness in states like Texas and Florida matters more than you might think: These states are among a small handful where flipping one chamber of the legislature would break a Republican stranglehold on redistricting.
[However..:] Democrats have only raised 31% of their Republican opponents in the most competitive pickup targets in the Florida state House, with cash-on-hand roughly at the same level. Democrats have broken the $100,000 mark in only three of the 23 most competitive pickups while Republicans raised over $100,000 in all but two of them.
This is serious.
As I’ve mentioned repeatedly in this downballot series, everything big we are trying to do in the next decade hinges on making progress in state legislatures.

I also have some good news.
You can make a difference right now by supporting Franccesca Cesti-Browne in Florida HD-115.
First, by digging in and educating yourself to learn that she is endorsed by SisterDistrict and the National Democratic Redistricting Committee and reading why.
Second, by taking a look at the situation Democrats face in Florida (via Forward Majority) overall when it comes to redistricting and fundraising.
And while I can’t recommend enough making a donation, you don’t need to give money. Sister District has ways you can help that include volunteering from home.
Finally, take a moment and meet Francesca, yourself:
This is crucial. Franccesca is exactly the kind of candidate who will benefit the most from small donor and grassroots activist support.
And every voter that she turns out via her network of local connections is someone that Biden-Harris does not need to get to the polls in Florida. These nested, downballot races are so important.

Finally, please take a look at the other local candidates I’ve profiled in this diary series below. Trust me, this is how we win back power for Democrats, from the bottom up!
