I’m about to turn 66 with several bad underlying conditions. For almost a year I’d escaped a fall, but I had two of them in the last two weeks. The first time, I managed to get up after a great struggle that took four hours. The second time (last Friday) I absolutely could not get up to a chair 18 inches above the floor, so we called the EMTs, which is terribly humiliating, not to mention the trouble to them at 4 a.m. My dear wife did her best with this for several hours.
So we just bought an Easy Lift Up device, which arrived today. Very expensive ($600). It’s three cushions connected to an electric air pump. Takes three minutes to raise all three cushions to 22 inches. The idea is that you scoot around and put your butt on that and then lift it up!
I need to try this tomorrow, but I’m afraid to go all the way down on the floor. Give us a prayer.
