I was devastated by the news of our beloved Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death. The tears flowed, sleep didn’t come easily. But this morning, I’m plotting, I’m donating, I’m readying myself for the battle. And one of the things I’m considering is this—what if we systematically plan our protests? I’m spending the day today making a plan to get to Washington. As of today—it may change as we receive news out of the nation’s capital—I’m not ready to quit my job in order to protest. But I do have a 5-day weekend in October—thank you Minnesota teachers’ union. I’m not ready to fly yet. But I’m ready to drive the 18 hours to D.C. I can be there for Wednesday night through Saturday morning and still get back to work on Monday. Are others willing to use their time off to be there? It has to be in D.C. That is where the power is concentrated. We have to stop D.C. from functioning as if it’s normal business. Is this something that could make a difference?
