Following his recent interview on CNN with Wolf Blitzer, the picture has become more and more obvious that Attorney General Bill Barr is a clear and present threat to this nation. There has been comment after comment, incident after incident that make this crystal clear.
Barr has completely denied that systematic racism is a factor in law enforcement despite the fact that officers tend to stop, search, assault, arrest, and kill black and brown defendants at a rate that is two to three times higher than whites. For young black men, it’s nine times greater. He claims instead that Black Lives Matter doesn’t care about Black Lives, they only care about “props.”
In a wide-ranging conversation for Constitution Day at Hillsdale College, Attorney General Bill Barr went after the protesters of the Black Lives Matter movement, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.
“They’re not interested in Black lives,” Barr claimed. “They’re interested in props, a small number of Blacks who are killed by police during conflicts with police — usually less than a dozen a year — who they can use as props.”
The Counted project by the Guardian records that 79 unarmed black men were killed by police in 2015. That’s a bit more than “less than a dozen” but ultimately that isn’t the point. EVEN ONE unarmed person being killed by police is too damn many, Police are not supposed to be street executioners randomly killing people they encounter for no damn reason, they’re supposed to protect and serve the public.
And that’s not the worst of what he’s said and done lately.
Besides the ridiculous statement that medical health lockdowns are like “Slavery”, Bill Barr has sent a memo to US prosecutors asking them to charge protesters with “Sedition” — the attempt to overthrow the US government.
The attorney general warned U.S. attorneys last week on a conference call that demonstrations could grow more violent ahead of the November election, according to sources familiar with the discussion, and he urged prosecutors to seek federal charges against protesters even when state charges may apply, reported the Wall Street Journal.
Barr listed various statutes that might apply, including the rarely used law against sedition, which legal experts say would require prosecutors to prove a conspiracy to attack government agents or officials that posed an imminent danger.
[...]
Law enforcement officials also discussed using a statute allowing prosecutors to charge individuals who impede or obstruct officers responding to unrest, which legal experts say is rarely applied and could also be protected.
The first amendment protects the right to “redress grievances with the government” but apparently in Bill Barr’s fascist mind — that is a bridge too far. Criticizing the government with the aim of making it better for all citizens is — to him — a “crime.”
This is on top of the fact that he continues to chase Antifa “boogey men” when in fact much of the violence and property destruction at these protests are being implemented by right-wing Boogaloo Bois who actually are in favor of overthrowing the government and starting a “second Civil War.”
Boogaloo Bois
This relatively new anti-government subculture is perhaps the most dangerous of the bunch. Steven Carrillo, a 32-year-old US Air Force sergeant from California, has been charged with the murder of two officers during the George Floyd protests, one in Oakland and another in Santa Cruz.
Before being arrested, he wrote in his own blood the terms "boog" and "I became unreasonable" on a car. Both terms are commonly used by the movement.
Rooted in a bulletin board dedicated to firearms on 4chan - called the /k/ board - Boogaloo Bois is a loose, leaderless movement.
Barr has threaten to charge Jenny Durkan the Mayor of Seattle with criminal charges for creating “protest zones” to keep demonstrators separated from Police.
Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan (D) accused President Donald Trump and Attorney General Bill Barr of “tyranny” late Wednesday suggesting the pair had warped the Justice Department into a “political weapon” used on those who speak out against the Trump administration.
The comments follow a New York Times report on Wednesday that revealed Attorney General Bill Barr asked the Justice Department’s civil rights division to explore bringing criminal charges against Durkan for allowing residents to establish a police-free protest zone earlier this summer.
Because of course, we don’t want police to be unable to tear-gas and pepper spray protesters.
Working with Homeland Security Barr has also been working on RICO charges against protesters.
Acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Chad Wolf stated that the Justice Department is looking into arresting leaders of Black Lives Matter (BLM) amid protests over the shooting of Jacob Blake by police officer Rusten Sheskey.
“Do you think the Department of Homeland Security is getting the help it needs from the Justice Department?” Fox News host Tucker Carlson asked. “Why haven’t we seen the leaders of antifa and BLM arrested and charged for conspiracy under, say, [Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Law], like the heads of the mafia families were?”
“This is something I talked to the AG personally about and I know that they are working on it,” Wolf replied, referring to Attorney General Bill Barr.
The DHS chief also stated that the Justice Department is “targeting and investigating the head of these organizations, the individuals that are paying for these individuals to move across the country.”
This is apparently part of the “antifa plane” theory that someone is paying protesters to fly around the country from city to city. A theory that Illegal DHS official Ken Cuccinelli wasn’t able to defend.
“So President Trump, when he was at Joint Base Andrews, talked about — he was talking about the protests and unrest that happened around this country, talked about a plane that was filled up with what he calls looters, anarchists, rioters, people looking for trouble, citing this sort of very specific incident,” Jackson began. “What evidence do you have of that, where did it happen, and when?”
“Well, I don’t, you know, do DOJ’s job, that’s more in their space. when you look at –,” Cuccinelli hesitantly replied.
“Would Homeland Security not be briefed on such an incident?” Jackson cut in.
“That is a very distinct possibility, yes,” he conceded. “But over half the arrests in Kenosha were from outside the area, where Portland they’re all from the Portland area. We’re seeing different situations where people are traveling to participate in some of this violence, and that’s obviously a major concern for us.”
“It does seem there may be a difference from what the president is talking about, the specific plane filled with rioters and people looking for trouble. You say there is “So I think you asked if DOJ would always share that information with us and that is not the case.
“So, you know, we’re not aware of that specific information” the acting DHS head demurred. “But we’re not — we don’t have legal authority over domestic terrorism, those sorts of activities. So that’s an FBI authority — they’re the ones who investigate those things.”
Within Homeland Security there was a battle in reporting that White Supremacist groups like Proud Boys and Boogaloo Bois are in fact the greatest current terrorist threat against the nation.
A senior official at the Department of Homeland Security has alleged in a whistleblower complaint that he was pressured to alter intelligence documents, including about the threats posed by Russian election interference and white supremacist violence, for political reasons.
The official, Brian Murphy, was until last month the principal deputy under secretary in the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis. But then, his whistleblower complaint alleges, he was demoted to a position in the DHS Management Division.
The complaint, which was released by the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, details Murphy’s allegations of repeated abuses and retaliation from DHS higher-ups, including a current top deputy at the department, Ken Cuccinelli, and the current acting secretary, Chad Wolf.
Perhaps most explosive of the several allegations included in Murphy’s complaint are his claims that Wolf and Cuccinelli pressured him to change intelligence assessments to match President Donald Trump’s rhetoric about “antifa” (a catch-all term for anti-fascist groups), the threat posed by white supremacists, and Russian election meddling.
[...]
In meetings over the summer, Cuccinelli subsequently told Murphy that he needed to “modify the section on White Supremacy in a manner that made the threat appear less severe, as well as include information on the prominence of violent ‘left-wing’ groups,” according to the complaint. Murphy declined to make the changes, his complaint said.
So Wolf and Cucinelli tried to get the professional threat assessment changed to downgrade the threat of White Supremacists and Russia and upgrade the threat from antifa and left-wing groups. Just like Bill Barr who claimed that “China” was a greater threat to the US election than Russia.
Meanwhile FBI Director Christopher Wray told the truth during his Senate testimony.
FBI Director Christopher Wray is warning Congress of Russia’s “very active” efforts to influence the 2020 election against Joe Biden and sow discord in the country.
“The intelligence community’s consensus is that Russia continues to try to influence our elections, primarily through what we would call malign foreign influence,” the FBI Director told members of the House Homeland Security Committee Thursday.
Surprisingly, this is no short list for replacements for Bill Barr, Chad Wolf or Ken Cuccinelli.
The Hartford Courant reports that Nora R. Dannehy resigned from the Durham investigation this week. That decision, the paper says, was at least partly motivated by alleged attempts at speeding up the investigation for political reasons by Attorney General Bill Barr.
The report cites colleagues of Dannehy’s, who told the paper that, in the Courant’s words, she “has been concerned in recent weeks by what she believed was pressure from Barr — who appointed Durham — to produce results before the election.”
Citing the same anonymous colleagues, the paper also reports that Dannehy has been considering resignation in recent weeks amid “concern about politics.”
The report offered few specifics about the reasons for Dannehy’s concerns. But it notes that other “Durham associates” believe that Barr has been pressuring him to produce some sort of result before the November election.
Former prosecutors have argued that this resignation shows exactly what’s wrong with Bill Barr’s DOJ.
No one really knows why federal prosecutor Nora Dannehy, who was part of a team looking into the Russia investigation, resigned from her post. But her colleagues say it was due to Attorney General Bill Barr’s politicization of the agency. According to the New York Times’ Neal Katyal and Joshua Geltzer, Dannehy’s resignation is “Her resignation looks like part of an extremely troubling pattern.
Earlier this year, highly respected prosecutors in the Michael Flynn and Roger Stone cases dramatically resigned or withdrew. One of them testified to Congress that the Justice Department under Mr. Barr was treating Mr. Stone ‘differently from any other defendant because of his relationship to the president.’ The Justice Department inspector general has opened an investigation,” Katyal and Geltzer write.“part of an extremely troubling pattern.”
“When civil servants resign, skeptics often ask what difference one person really can make by leaving. The answer is simple: a lot. Ms. Dannehy’s departure isn’t just likely a major assertion of integrity by her; it’s also a big problem for Mr. Barr — and therefore for Mr. Trump.”
Attorney General Bill Barr has been spreading a new conspiracy theory about mail-in voting that experts are saying would be nearly “impossible” to pull off.
As Bloomberg reports, Barr has repeatedly floated an idea that foreign countries will try to alter the results of the 2020 election by sending out counterfeit ballots en masse to American households.
Four Democratic House committee chairs on Friday urged the Justice Department’s internal watchdog to launch an emergency probe into whether DOJ officials, including Attorney General William Barr, violated the law by taking actions intended to influence the upcoming presidential election.

As Richard Hasen, professor of law and political science at UC Irvine School of Law, wrote in an op-ed for CNN this week, Barr has way overstepped the bounds of what is appropriate for an Attorney General to do in terms of politicizing his office. According to Hasen:
By repeating false and misleading statements about the potential for voter fraud and post-election violence, Attorney General William Barr has stepped out of his role as the nation’s chief law enforcement officer and marred the 2020 elections. This parroting of President Donald Trump’s unsupported rhetoric is irresponsible and dangerous, turning the job of the Department of Justice as the protector of voting rights on its head.
This sowing of doubt in the integrity of our elections could be even worse than Barr’s other recent comments comparing prosecutors to children, equating Covid-19 health restrictions to slavery and suggesting that some political protesters should be charged with “sedition.”
Sam Levine, reporting for the Guardian on Thursday, cited many experts who warn that Barr has emerged as Trump’s “most powerful ally in undermining” the 2020 elections.
If Barr has his way, and he just might, Trump will be re-elected and this country will descend into full on fascism with gaslighting bullshit about “antifa” and “violent protesters” being shoved down our throats on a regular basis.
That can’t be allowed to happen. Democracy in this nation would cease to exist.
