Top o’ the mornin’ to ye! Hope everyone is feeling fine, and doing well. Have a cuppa...and maybe a nosh…...
All are welcome to join the fun, the silliness, the conversations. If you don’t know...just ask! Some things really do require a bit of explanation.
There will be a few surprises along the way, all good ones, we hope.
We are here to keep building the Daily Kos Community.
We post Mon-Sun at 10:30 a.m. Eastern.
Pie fights will be met with outrageous ridicule and insults. Trolls will be incinerated and served at the next group BBQ. As briquettes.
Honestly, kids...I got nuthin’. It’s after 8 pm, and I’ve been trying to think of a topic since about noon.
So what I will do is tell you about my trip to Aldi’s this afternoon. In case you didn’t know, ALDI owns Trader Joe’s, as well. Ours opened in what used to- be a Barnes & Noble. After the re-decorating over the winter and spring, they opened about three weeks ago. There was already one in Summerville (which I’ve been to) and one in Mt. Pleasant...which is across the Big Ass Bridge, and fuggedaboudit!! Marti doesn’t do bridges. Not willingly, anyway!
So, now that the “opening” crowds are done, I needed milk and Shadow, First of His Name, needed treats. I was delightfully surprised by how clean and bright and well stocked they were! And I’m almost willing to swear that those lemons were really Meyers, but decided not to chance it. The other surprise was how closely the prices tracked to the Base Commissary...the military’s version of a grocery store. Our meats are about the same, but I saw pork loin for under $3 (or was it under $2??) a pound! I’ll go back for one of them, soon.
It wasn’t crowded, the staff are young-ish, but very nice, and EVERYONE wears a mask there! Surprisingly, they will allow you to bring your own bags from home. Most other places around here will not. Guess they’re too good for Marti Cooties, huh?
I’m impressed enough to make them “my” local grocery store, when I don’t feel like taking on the base. It’s worth a few bucks added to the total, not to have to drive over to the base and hike to the door, meander through, hike back to the car, and die of thirst. After all, I’m not a camel!
HAPPY HUMPDAY!!
What would you like to talk about this morning?
