Trump just bragged on Twitter about the stock market (AGAIN). This time his tweet said “Setting records with your 401k’s, just like I said you would. Congratulations to all!”
No smart investor ever cares if the stock market is at an all time high. With inflation, added population, more money in the economy etc., the stock market is designed to always go up. The SMART investor should really only care about percentages. If you can put your money in a bank and make .5% or put your money in the stock market and make 8% where would you put your money? Sure sometimes the market goes down, but historically it has gone up. Just ride the waves.
So Trump was inaugurated on January 20, 2017 the Stock Market was 19,827. Today the stock market stands at 30,606 for a percentage gain of 54.4%. If you invested $1000 at the beginning of Trumps Presidency you would have $1554 now.
Obama was inaugurated on January 20, 2009 the Stock Market was 7949 and four years later on January 1, 2013 the stock market had SOARED to 13104 for a percentage gain of 64.9%. If you invested $1000 at the beginning of Obamas Presidency you would have $1649 after almost four years. Almost $100 more.
And of course in the following four years the stock market gained an additional 51.3% under Obama. So if anybody tells you that Trumps stock market is the greatest ever, just remind them that Obama outperformed the financial Wizard Trump in the stock market and watch them go ballistic.
