There may already be a DK Diary about this, but as reported in Politico and many others, today, the Harvard University Institute of Politics announced that it is removing Elise Stefanik from its Senior Advisory Committee because of her unfounded claims of voter fraud.
"Elise has made public assertions about voter fraud in November’s presidential election that have no basis in evidence, and she has made public statements about court actions related to the election that are incorrect," Harvard Kennedy School Dean Douglas Elmendorf wrote in a letter released Tuesday. "Moreover, these assertions and statements do not reflect policy disagreements but bear on the foundations of the electoral process through which this country’s leaders are chosen."
Not one to go quietly, Ms. Stefanik called her removal "a rite of passage and badge of honor. . . [T]he decision by Harvard's administration to cower and cave to the woke Left will continue to erode diversity of thought," Stefanik wrote in a statement. "The Ivory Tower's march toward a monoculture of like-minded, intolerant liberal views demonstrates the sneering disdain for everyday Americans and will instill a culture of fear for students."
I was frankly confused by her response: is it an “intolerant, liberal view” that there is such a thing as facts and truth” Or perhaps that there should be consequences when you tell lies in an attempt to overturn an election?
I went to Ms. Stefanik’s facebook page, and was treated to a fair number of people defending her for “standing up to tyranny”, but an overwhelming barrage of comments calling out her lies and sedition and demanding that she resign. (Cleverly, Ms. Stefanik replied that today is National Pharmacists Day . . . . which threw exactly no one off the trail.) If this particular Facebook page is any indication, There is a whole lot of shit being thrown back and forth across our great divide. Hard to see now what might come of it, but at least people like Ms. Stefanik are getting an earful.
It would be good to hear from folks up her way (Glens Falls) about whether she will be vulnerable in 2022.
