This day was four very long years in the making. Once again, thank you to all the people who did the work to get us here. Tomorrow starts a whole new set of challenges. For tonight, I’m turning the floor over to one of the country’s greatest poets.
But first, a word from our sponsor:

This is the opening of Let America Be America Again, by Langston Hughes:
Let America be America again.
Let it be the dream it used to be.
Let it be the pioneer on the plain
Seeking a home where he himself is free.
(America never was America to me.)
Let America be the dream the dreamers dreamed--
Let it be that great strong land of love
Where never kings connive nor tyrants scheme
That any man be crushed by one above.
(It never was America to me.)
O, let my land be a land where Liberty
Is crowned with no false patriotic wreath,
But opportunity is real, and life is free,
Equality is in the air we breathe.
On to Top Comments!
From RealRick:
These stunning photos of eagles in combat by Jeff Graham deserve to be a top comment. I expect them to make Jotter’s photo quilt too, but I don’t know how to influence that.
From your humble (if antisocially distancing) diarist:
Speaking Frankly responds to a picture of a teary-eyed Ivanka with a rewrite of “They Call the Wind Maria” from Paint Your Wagon.
Vae’s diary Enjoy these pictures of lonely MAGA fools protesting outside state buildings with no backup had several hilarious comments riffing on the “Don’t tread on me” flag. This one from theghostofjohndewey was my favorite.
