It really is beyond shame that I have one of the most truly evil men supposedly representing me in the U.S. Senate (The Satanic Snapping Turtle Mitch McConnell), but to have a wannabee pseduo-libertarian/consitutional idiot/Trumpist who hears the words, “President Rand Paul” in his head as the other is just too much agony for me to bear. Rand is still pushing the Big Lie that the election was stolen from Trump, but some in the Media are pushing back on Rand’s lies. Rand would very much like Trump voters to love him, and squeeze, and call him Trump when he runs for president in 2024. When he is not kissing the crazies collective ass, it might have occured to Rand that voting against insurrection might hurt his resume. Like a broken clock, Rand finally come up with an “idea” that Rachel Maddow suggested weeks ago for Senate Republicans for Trump’s impeachment trial: boycott!
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul calls Trump impeachment a 'sham,' calls for boycott
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul argues the second impeachment of former President Donald Trump is illegitimate because Trump has left office and calls for a boycott of the trial in an opinion piece published Sunday by the online news site The Hill.
It appears that Rand’s most “cogent” argument against the impeachment of Trump is that he is gone from office. Hell, Rand cripped this from other Republicans, which is their default position. It’s supposedly unconstitutional to impeach, try, and convict an office holder once they have left office. This is of course a lie. A disproven lie at that.
But Rand and the other Republicans are holding onto this lie to cover their backsides when they vote for Trump and insurreciton. Or so it would seem. Instead, Rand must have been told about Maddow’s idea that conviction in the U.S. Senate on impeachment requires two thirds of the members who are present. If say 25 Republicans took a hike and boycotted this “sham,” Democrats would have the votes necessary to convict.
This may have finally dawned on our constitutional scholar Rand, and it avoids him having to vote for insurrection. No, if only Rand could convince 24 more Republicans to join him in this endeavor?
