Yep. Our own Matt Rogers (Virginia Wave) has a new baby boy!! Mandela 1.21.21 (pretty cool birthdate)
Matt is the Chief of Staff for a Virginia state senator, and the owner of a political consulting firm that focus’s on helping candidates the Party ignores. Not just in Virginia either, he helped in the huge 90for90 effort to get candidates in every single Florida state legislative district for the 2020 election cycle. He is a team player, Matt works and plays well with others.
He has degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice. Criminal Justice Reform is a passion of Matt’s, along with: green energy, tax reform, renters rights, cannabis legalization, a living wage, paid family leave, and more. Everything we want in a candidate.
Matt’s running for Delegate of the 47th district of Virginia, an overwhelmingly Democratic district. It’s been represented for over a decade by the same person, a Democrat who was considered a progressive in 2009. Endorsing candidates like Theo Stamos for Commonwealth Attorney is not very progressive though.
Stamos supported three-strikes laws as well as locking up people of colour for possessing small amount of marijuana. Matt endorsed Parisa Dehghani-Tafti whose platform included, well, everything that’s good and right about the Democratic Party. Matt’s preferred candidate, Parisa Dehghani-Tafti won that election and was sworn in Monday, Dec. 16, 2019.
The fact that Matt endorsed her tells me a lot about the way he thinks, and I’m impressed. I think it’s time people in the 47th district had a choice, and Matt is a great choice!
Unlike my neighbor, who had 4 ultrasounds that said she was having a girl, and was caught a bit off guard when she had a boy, I think Matt is all set in the baby supply department. I’m thinking we can help him out by donating to his campaign. A little welcome to the world, it’s a beautiful place, for his son.
