I think Biden should simply pardon DACA recipients for being in the US.
This would immediately stop deportations of those not gulity of other crimes, in a way that doesn't require buy-in from Republicans and is beyond the reach of lawsuits.
The US has a long, well-established and accepted tradition of not holding minors accountable (even after they become adults) for actions that would be criminal for adults. I see no reason why this should not apply to minors entering the US.
Using presidential pardons to address the DACA issue is an idea that needs a champion. I am too old and ill to be that champion, so I am hoping that someone who reads this will pick up the banner and run with it. If you or someone you know might be able to take on the role of promoting this approach, please just do it. I'm not posting to solicit comments or help, I'm posting to provoke someone into taking charge and ownership.
Comments are welcome though, especially if they stimulate publicity. Getting action on this has to begin by getting the attention of those with power to make it happen. The more noise the better.
In the long run, presidential pardons could become important in broader immigration issues.
Any takers?
