Yesterday, Trump incited a riot at the U.S. Capitol and refused to call out the National Guard to clear the rioters out of the building.
A few days ago, audio recordings were published in which Trump pressured Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find votes” and fraudulently “recalculate” the vote totals so that Trump would win the state, and went so far as to threaten him with criminal consequences if he didn’t go along with the scheme.
Both of these are blatantly impeachable offenses. Donald Trump is a criminal.
And yet, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not yet scheduled a vote on impeachment for either of these outrageous crimes.
We need to see leadership from our Democratic elected officials. Right now, the leadership that’s necessary is to impeach Donald Trump and give the Senate the opportunity to consider removing this dangerous man from office ASAP.
Who knows what additional damage he could do between now and January 20, when his term ends? He already led an attempted coup. He might be going crazy. Please, Democratic leaders, do something now! Impeach him before it’s too late!
Maybe it will fail, or maybe not. But you have to try. That’s what it means to be a leader. Democrats, and the American people, deserve strong leadership in defense of our democracy.
