Wrote this poem when Trump started misinformation about elections. As we come to close to the January 6th certification date, I made some minor edits. Please review and suggest any edits.
Terrorists, arsonists, and
troublemakers alike -
are no match to
our invulnerable Republic.
Our proud democracy -
two hundred forty-four years
strong,
An unassailable Nation -
stronger than
all the diamonds combined,
Our exultant legacy -
a testament to all attacks
we could withstand.
This incorrigible facade,
Will this fall apart,
like a house of cards?
Lies spread like wildfire,
and truth has no place
in the disinformation maelstrom.
Can our democracy withstand
a dishonest conman -
holding its sinews captive?
Can our nation survive
the power-hungry vultures -
who crave to feast,
on our sacred democracy?
Can our legacy outlast
the spineless legislators -
who seek to thrive
on the carcass of the republic?
The bald eagle will rise
to free her sinews
from
the conman’s hold.
The fiery falcon
will trounce
the traitors,
seditionists,
insurrectionists,
and arsonists -
with an indelible smile.
