Here in this report from TYT we can see video of the Insurrectionist entering the Capitol taking selfies with police who readily invited them inside.
Some of those who stormed the Capitol wore police badges and riot gear, while clearly some police on the inside where sympathetic to the “stop the steal” delusion which is entirely based on denying the votes of black people living in large cities like Philadelphia, Atlanta and Detroit.
This is White Supremacy.
The rioters planned this attack for weeks previously.
The invasion of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday was stoked in plain sight. For weeks, the far-right supporters of President Donald Trump railed on social media that the election had been stolen. They openly discussed the idea of violent protest on the day Congress met to certify the result.
“We came up with the idea to occupy just outside the CAPITOL on Jan 6th,” leaders of the Stop the Steal movement wrote on Dec. 23. They called their Wednesday demonstration the Wild Protest, a name taken from a tweet by Trump that encouraged his supporters to take their grievances to the streets of Washington. “Will be wild,” the president tweeted.
Ali Alexander, the founder of the movement, encouraged people to bring tents and sleeping bags and avoid wearing masks for the event. “If D.C. escalates… so do we,” Alexander wrote on Parler last week — one of scores of social media posts welcoming violence that were reviewed by ProPublica in the weeks leading up to Wednesday’s attack on the capitol.
Thousands of people heeded that call.
For reasons that remained unclear Wednesday night, the law enforcement authorities charged with protecting the nation’s entire legislative branch — nearly all of the 535 members of Congress gathered in a joint session, along with Vice President Mike Pence — were ill-prepared to contain the forces massed against them.
On Wednesday afternoon, a thin line of U.S. Capitol Police, with only a few riot shields between them and a knot of angry protesters, engaged in hand-to-hand combat with rioters on the steps of the West Front. They struggled with a flimsy set of barricades as a mob in helmets and bulletproof vests pushed its way toward the Capitol entrance. Videos showed officers stepping aside, and sometimes taking selfies, as if to usher Trump’s supporters into the building they were supposed to guard.
The huge crowd was easily able to push past the Capitol police who were at the doors. Meanwhile, the National Guard was busy directing traffic instead of protecting the Capitol, memos from the Pentagon shows that they were deliberately given a “limited role.”
"The Pentagon placed tight limits on the D.C. National Guard ahead of pro-Trump protests this week, trying to ensure the use of military force remained constrained, as the Guard carried out a narrow, unarmed mission requested by the city's mayor to help handle traffic ahead of planned protests," the newspaper reported. "In memos issued Monday and Tuesday in response to a request from the D.C. mayor, the Pentagon prohibited the District's guardsmen from receiving ammunition or riot gear, interacting with protesters unless necessary for self-defense, sharing equipment with local law enforcement, or using Guard surveillance and air assets without the defense secretary's explicit sign-off, according to officials familiar with the orders. The limits were established because the Guard hadn't been asked to assist with crowd or riot control."
"Then the mission abruptly changed — and the Pentagon is now facing criticism from governors and local officials who say it moved too slowly to send National Guard troops to respond, a charge that its leaders denied Thursday," The Post noted. "In the roughly three hours it took the Pentagon to make the shift from traffic policing to full-fledged riot response, the Capitol Police found themselves overwhelmed and rioters stormed the building, forcing lawmakers to take cover and barricade themselves in their offices. The Pentagon left it to federal law enforcement to clear the Capitol of the rioters, amid the hesitancy about sending Guard units into the building itself. By the evening, Guard units helped the Capitol Police and federal and city law enforcement reestablish a perimeter around the building."
Just or the record, this is how the responded to a DC Black Lives Matter from last year.
One of these things is not much like the other, is it?
[As noted in the comments] If you still doubt the racism inherent in what occurred here, just read this excerpt of commentary as the protest died down from The Nation.
It was growing dark. Park lights along the Mall had switched on, illuminating the monuments. On the ground, in the hands of so many retreating protesters, American flags beat in the wind. Atop the Capitol building, now aglow under low-hanging clouds, the same flag flew.
“This is not America,” a woman said to a small group, her voice shaking. She was crying, hysterical. “They’re shooting at us. They’re supposed to shoot BLM, but they’re shooting the patriots.”
A man, possibly her husband, comforted her: “Don’t worry, honey. We showed them today. We showed them what we’re all about.
This is how White privilege functions. If you’re white you are assumed to be “safe”, “non-threatening.” You are granted the presumption of innocence. You are assumed to be “one of us.” People don’t react to you with suspicion, they don’t call the police on you for trying to enter your own apartment building, or for selling water on the street. They don't chase you down for jogging through the neighborhood. They don’t put a knee on your neck for 8 minutes. They don’t use rubber bullets and tear gas on you. They don't grab you off the street and stuff into an unmarked rental car because they’re supposedly “protecting a Federal building.”
But the truth is that White Nationalist/Supremacist Terrorism is the greatest domestic threat in this nation.
White supremacists present the gravest terror threat to the United States, according to a draft report from the Department of Homeland Security.
Two later draft versions of the same document — all of which were reviewed by POLITICO — describe the threat from white supremacists in slightly different language. But all three drafts describe the threat from white supremacists as the deadliest domestic terror threat facing the U.S., listed above the immediate danger from foreign terrorist groups.
“Foreign terrorist organizations will continue to call for Homeland attacks but probably will remain constrained in their ability to direct such plots over the next year,” all three documents say.
Russia “probably will be the primary covert foreign influence actor and purveyor of disinformation and misinformation in the Homeland,” the documents also say.
Let’s also recall that the head of DHS tried to have this report suppressed and changed to downplay the violence of Supremacists and play up violence by so-called “Antifa.”
Washington (CNN) A whistleblower is alleging that top political appointees in the Department of Homeland Security repeatedly instructed career officials to modify intelligence assessments to suit President Donald Trump's agenda by downplaying Russia's efforts to interfere in the US and the threat posed by White supremacists, according to documents reviewed by CNN and a source familiar with the situation.
The whistleblower claims that acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf instructed DHS officials earlier this year to "cease providing intelligence assessments on the threat of Russian interference" and, instead, focus their efforts on gathering information related to activities being carried out by China and Iran.
[...]
The complaint also alleges that Wolf and Cuccinelli, both Trump appointees, directed officials to change intelligence assessments to ensure they matched up with misleading public comments from Trump about Antifa and "anarchist" groups, according to a complaint filed with the DHS inspector general.
Separately, both Wolf and Cuccinelli also tried to alter a report to downplay the threat posed by White supremacists and instead emphasize the role of leftist groups due to concerns about how the initial language would reflect on the
President, according to a source familiar with the claims raised by the whistleblower.
Make the report into something that Trump would like to hear.
All of this violence, barricades destroyed, feces smeared in the halls of Congress and Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick who died after being bashed in head with a Fire extinguisher was all fostered by these people who screamed “Trial by Combat” and “We will not concede” just previously.
This, this right here unleashed a mob of deluded White nationalists, Anti-Semites,Proud Boys and Qanon crazies onto our Congress.
It was a White Riot.
If the members of Congress and their staff hadn’t fled, they would have been in mortal danger. It was even decried on Fox News who called it “Unpatriotic and unamerican.”
Of course they whine here that “Republicans” were targeted at the RNC, and claim “You don’t expect to see that out of Conservatives.’
Yes, actually I do. I expect exactly that from that because that’s who they are, that’s who they’ve been for decades. It hasn’t been “Liberals” who’ve been firebombing women’s clinics and shooting up Planned Parenthood. Oklahoma City wasn’t a Liberal. The Atlanta Olympic bombing wasn’t a Liberal. It wasn’t a “Liberal” at the Tree of Life Synagogue. Or at the Unitarian Church shooting, or who attacked the Sieks. It wasn’t a Liberal who planted bombs and tried to murder dozens in the Netherlands and in Christchurch.
Trump knows this, that’s why he was reluctant to call for the rioters to stop. He actually got into a shouting match with Kevin McCarthy when he was asked to denounced that Insurrectionists.
And according to Punchbowl News reporter Anna Palmer, Trump was highly resistant to even condemning the rioters who were attacking the Capitol in his name.
Appearing on CNN Friday, Palmer said that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was furious that Trump initially refused to call off his rioting supporters during a phone call on Wednesday.
"McCarthy got into a screaming match with the president on Wednesday as the House was under siege and the Capitol was, you know, being attacked," she said. "He wanted him to denounce the mob and tell them to leave and the president at first refused."
It came down to President-Elect Biden to call for an end to the violence.
A real President spoke here.
Trump cabinet member are falling like flies. Former Trump communications director Alyssa Farah says that Trump is directly responsible for this attack.
Former White House communications director Alyssa Farah on Friday told CNN that she directly blames President Donald Trump for this week's riots at the United States Capitol building.
During an interview on the network, host John Berman noted that she believes " the president and his advisers are directly responsible" for this week's riots and then asked her to explain why.
"Well, first [they're] responsible for inciting this violence and this attack on such a symbolic part of our democracy, the United States capitol," she said. "I mean, I served in the Capitol for the better portion of a decade, I walked those halls. They allowed this myth, this lie to take a life of its own that the election might be overturned."
Based on their social media post and live feeds police are rounding up the perpetrators. 15 arrests have been made, some of the suspects were apprehended with load of Molotov cocktails, zip ties, handguns an M4 rifle and pipe bombs.
(CNN)The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for help in identifying people involved in leaving pipe bombs in Washington, DC, on Wednesday.
Authorities are offering the money for information leading to the "location, arrest, and conviction" of whoever is responsible for the placement of suspected pipe bombs near the Republican National Committee and Democratic National Committee headquarters.
The FBI released a photo via social media of a person wearing a gray hooded jacket, black pants and black gloves, and carrying a large black item in his or her right hand. The agency did not state that the person in the photo is a suspect.
This could have gone much further south than it did. It was a big flash and sound and fury which ultimately signified nothing. Once the terrorists were cleared out of the Capitol, the process went forward and Joe Biden was certified as the 46th President of the United States.
They made a lot of white noise, but they didn’t win. Now there being rounded up all around the nation. They going to trial. Trump just might join them.
And also, yes, it’s worth while to Impeach him again. Even if they can’t finish the proceedings in 12 days, impeachment and removal will bar him for life from ever holding Federal Office again. It’s worth it, no matter how long it takes.
PS. Putin and the Kremlin are thrilled.
