I like this idea, Ron DeSantis! Collect all the unvaccinated cops you can find! Come to think of it, let’s lure every last unvaxxed American to Florida so the rest of us can get back to normal life.
We can rename Florida “The Pestilent Peninsula.” I mean, it’s already the syphilitic dick of the Western Hemisphere. (Or maybe that’s Donald Trump. No wonder he won the state. Hmm.)
Anyway, municipalities across the country are having trouble enforcing vaccine mandates among police officers, and on Sunday, Gov. Ron DeSantis joined Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo—whose sole redeeming quality is that she’s not Jeanine Pirro—on Sunday Morning Futures to discuss the issue.

BARTIROMO: “In a situation where there’s crime spiking across the country, the president of the police union in Chicago is estimating that 3,200 Chicago police are defying the vaccine, and they will be off the job, that means off the streets. What is that doing to the American people and their feeling of safety? It’s very concerning. Your thoughts on where this is going—I mean, is he just trying to insist that this is a law so that companies follow before it could actually be … confirmed to be unconstitutional?”
DESANTIS: “Well, first, I think it’s important to point out, on a scientific basis, most of those first responders have had COVID and they’ve recovered. So they have strong protection, and so I think that influences their decision on a lot of this, that they’ve already had it and recovered, and so they’re making no accommodations for that. They’re still pretending like that doesn’t even exist. And so that’s really, really troubling when you see that. But I can tell you, Maria, in Florida, not only are we going to want to protect the law enforcement and all the jobs, we’re actually actively working to recruit out-of-state law enforcement, because we do have needs in our police and our sheriff’s department, so in the next legislative session, I’m gonna hopefully sign legislation that gives a $5,000 bonus to any out-of-state law enforcement that relocates in Florida. So NYPD, Minneapolis, Seattle, if you’re not being treated well, we’ll treat you better here. You can fill important needs for us, and we’ll compensate you as a result.”
Most have already had COVID-19? That’s your answer? What about those who haven’t? You're really going to give them $5,000 each to help infect your state? Somehow that doesn’t seem like a good use of taxpayer dollars. Maybe you should take all that cash and use it to build a giant statue of a COVID-19 virus. I mean, it’s part of the South’s “heritage,” after all; at this rate it’s going to last considerably longer than the Confederacy ever did.
Also—and, granted, I’m no expert on law enforcement—wouldn’t you want police officers who, I dunno, follow the rules? Seems like a pretty important part of the job, but what do I know?
So, yeah, for once I support Ron DeSantis’ malign machinations. I mean, he’s already decided he wants his state to be a leper colony. Might as well indulge him.
Apologies, of course, to progressive Floridians. Maybe we can pay you to live in a state that cares about its residents. I’ll personally kick in some cash to foster you if someone gets an exchange program up and running.
Satan-speed, Ron. Git ‘er done.
It made comedian Sarah Silverman say, “THIS IS FUCKING BRILLIANT,” and prompted author Stephen King to shout “Pulitzer Prize!!!” (on Twitter, that is). What is it?
