This Supreme Court docket includes a challenge to a New York law that requires people to posses guns in public to have a permit. To get that permit one needs to show cause that they need the protection of a gun. The Roberts court seems inclined to void that 100 year old law. Their premise is that you should not have to show cause to preserve a constitutional right.
While they ponder this, a jury in Wisconsin just allowed a young man to travel across state boundaries looking for trouble and armed with a weapon, to literally get away with murder.
Justice needs to be more than arcane arguments about what 18th century men intended. When the niceties of your philosophy allow for vigilante murder on the regular, the idea that the court would take the few remaining constraints off the murder caucus is terrifying.
The Roberts Court cannot afford to allow ideological purity to unleash a tidal wave of political killings. I hope and pray they can see where this is headed and pump the brakes.
Im convinced that they won’t consider the potential carnage that a pure second amendment finding will deliver.
