LGBTQ Literature is a Readers and Book Lovers series dedicated to discussing literature that has made an impact on the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. From fiction to contemporary nonfiction to history and everything in between, any literature that touches on LGBTQ themes is welcome in this series. LGBTQ Literature posts on the last Sunday of every month at 7:30 PM EST. If you are interested in writing for the series, please send a message to Chrislove.
Happy holidays, faithful LGBTQ Literature readers! I hope everybody who celebrates had a wonderful Christmas, and I wish you all a restful and at least somewhat joyous (I know it’s hard to find joy lately) rest of the year.
As I announced last month, there will be no substantive LGBTQ Literature diary today because of the Christmas holiday. However, I did want to put up a quick diary and wish everybody a happy holiday season. I feel like I need something for this diary, so here’s a lovely commercial from Posten Norway that I’m still thinking about (h/t belinda ridgewood, who first posted this).
Okay, so I had an ulterior motive for posting this diary. I would like to start building the 2022 LGBTQ Literature schedule, and as always, we need writers!
I’ve said it before (many times), and I’ll say it again: This series is at its strongest when we have a diverse set of writers. And we’re not picky. If you have an idea for a diary that has something to do with LGBTQ literature, I’d love to put you on the schedule! I do my best to fill in on months we don’t have a writer scheduled, but I write from a very specific perspective (as a gay white male historian), and it’s a real limitation for this series if I’m the one writing all the time. And frankly, I have less and less time to commit to writing these diaries, so I need all the help I can get.
If you have an idea for a diary topic and can commit to a date next year, it would be greatly appreciated. Just send me a message or leave a comment below. Here is the 2022 calendar (as you can see, every date is currently open):
January 30: OPEN
