Getcha popcorn ready:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) blasted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) embrace of “loony lies and conspiracy theories” as a “cancer for the Republican Party,” The Hill reports.
Sid McConnell: “Somebody who’s suggested that perhaps no airplane hit the Pentagon on 9/11, that horrifying school shootings were pre-staged, and that the Clintons crashed JFK Jr.’s airplane is not living in reality.”
A few thoughts:
1. MTG, and people like her, helped undermine Republican turnout in Georgia, which cost Mitch the thing he loves most in the world: his gavel.
2. This is not Mitch having a pang of conscience, as he has none. If MTG’s insanity had helped him hold the Senate, he would not be attacking her. It is purely in advancement of Republican interests---he is attempting to go back to the status quo ante, where Republicans kept the crazy out of visible sight for the most part.
3. This means nothing for the future. Rick Perry called Trump a “cancer on conservativism”, then became his energy secretary.
Still, pretty hilarious. Republicans in disarray!
