We are all done with them! Honestly we were done with them ages ago. We were done with them when they clutched their pearls and bemoaned deficits during the Obama years. We were done with them when they made a scandal about a tan-suited Obama. We were done with them with every faux scandal they could conjure up against any number of Democrats.
So now we have a group of Senators (and I am not forgetting you, House Representatives) that when confronted for the umpteenth time that Trump has smeared his orange tanning cream on the constitution and all our political norms, they say things like this:
- “I don’t think there’s anything that’s been said by either side that has changed any votes,” Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) told HuffPost at one point Wednesday afternoon. “There’s nothing that I have heard during this process that I hadn’t already heard.”
- “There’s nothing new here, for me, at the end of the day,” Hawley said. “I think that we don’t have jurisdiction as a court in order to pursue this, so nothing that I’ve seen changes my view on that, and if you don’t have jurisdiction, that’s just the end of the call.”
- Republicans seem resolute on acquitting Trump. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told reporters Wednesday that he had talked to Trump the previous night, and he promised the former president that Republicans wouldn’t convict.

None of those who voted against impeachment or vote for acquittal should ever again be interviewed on air or in print with any reputable media company. Their opinions on whatever future news event shall not matter anymore. They have given up any right to be taken seriously. Shut them down! Shut them all down! Let them go to Fox or OANN or Newsmax to spew their garbage to the only viewers who would believe them.
To quote Hunter from one of my most re-read and bookmarked diaries:
“[Any republican who(my words)] calls everyone up asking to appear on the Sunday shows because he has just discovered that we need to cut medical care for the poor, food aid to children, and every other good thing America has ever done for anyone by one and a halfish trillion dollars—I presume, when he phones up the nice television bookers and studiously serious journalists of the world to peddle this theory, that every last one of them will laugh at him, then hang up on him. Or hang up on him first, then laugh at him.
Tell me, oh news providers of America, that you are not so effervescently stupid as to go along with the hoary ploy again. Nobody is that stupid, after all, unless it is on purpose. And we are all a bit too old and too world-weary to be stupid on purpose.” www.dailykos.com/…
Go read Hunter again. His words in 2018 ring just as true now.
