Well this is happening then, time to try to make a real difference. In the small village of Savoy, IL outside the Champaign-Urbana area, where we have ‘independent’ positions for the village board been dominated by Republican supporters for years, I have finally decided to try to make a run to change this.
It’s an uphill battle but with the support of an ever-increasing diverse community going to contest the upcoming Illinois consolidated elections on April 6th for the position of the village Trustee. The core motivation is to have a seat at the table for diverse representation and opening the door for future generations for the minority communities. The current village of Savoy is highly unrepresentative of the changing population as in the picture shared below.
Website for the campaign is ammarforsavoy.com and facebook.com/ammarforsavoy — Spread the word, maybe you can volunteer remotely and/or donate to the campaign? — Thanks to Kos and dailykos for being there for all of us since 2004(this is how far I have been here, even got my Google email invite from some one here back in the day :))
