If you haven’t seen the photos of the CPAC Golden Trump statue you must have been asleep for the past couple of days. The story about it is just about everywhere with many images (here) .
When I first saw it I thought it had to be a major prank. The first time I saw it I thought he was holding an iPhone and a weird magic wand, but it turned out that he was really holding a copy of the Constitution.
Aside from the fact that his face looked ridiculous, what made me think it had to be a prank was that he was wearing American flag boxer shorts, a jacket, open collar dress shirt, a tie, and flip-flops. I mean, what man ever lounges around the house like this?
Update: I just noticed that you can see his arm bones. This is was a major indication it is was a prank.
The boxers are a real item which you can buy on Amazon or Etsy.
Men can make a statement by buying these:
At first I didn’t even notice the red flip-flops. When has Trump ever worn flip-flops?
The statue prompted articles like A Golden Statue Of Donald Trump Got Wheeled Into CPAC And The Internet Had A Field Day and lots of tweets like these (click below to see replies to Rep. Kinzinger’s tweet):
and many more.
I thought that perhaps Sacha Baron Cohen was behind it and would use it in his next mockumentary. I wonder if he’s there in disguise.
I hope he is there filming a new movie especially if he has the terrific Maria Bakalova who played his daughter Tuta, the one who pranked Rudy Giuliani in a notorious dare I say historic scene.
The poll:
Are we all so used to the epidemic of Trump worship that most of us accepted that this was just a straightforward expression of sincere idolatry or did some of you have the same reaction that I did?
