Dear Republican Representatives and Senators;
When you promote conspiracy theories and play political footsie with people like Congresswoman Green and Donald Trump, we wonder whether you’ve forgotten why we elected you.
Perhaps I should first remind you why we DIDN’T elect you.
We didn’t elect you to spend your time and our money pandering to cronies, donors, extremists, and special interest groups.
We didn’t elect you to “own the libs and anger the media” or, as Republican Senator Ben Sasse recently said, to “worship one dude” (we’d have expected you to leave those notions on your kindergarten playground).
And, now, on to why we DID elect you.
We elected you to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to enact legislation to manage the following critical issues:
- Affordable, accessible health care
- Civil liberties and national security
- Criminal justice reform
- Deficit reduction and balancing the budget
- Diplomacy and military force
- Diversity and equality
- Domestic terrorism
- Enhanced educational initiatives
- Environmental justice
- Expanding broadband
- Foreign policy initiatives to strengthen relations with allies
- Foreign terrorism prevention
- Global warming policies and procedures
- Green energy programs
- Income inequality
- Jobs and the economy
- Pandemic planning, management, and eradication
- Promoting democracy abroad
- Racial equality policies
- Respectful, compassionate immigration and asylum policies
- Restoring relations with allies
- Revitalized and reimagined infrastructure
- White supremacy
Please tell us precisely what you’re doing to balance America’s best interests against the socioeconomic realities of the 21st Century as you work through each issue.
If you refuse this simple request, you will have told us why we shouldn’t reelect you.
Wouldn’t that be a shame?
Regards,
Davy Z Jones
