Opinion by Hal Brown
You may have been reading about Allen Weisselberg. If not, he’s the longtime Trump Organization CFO granted immunity in Michael Cohen investigation in 2018. He was one of the executives who helped arrange for Cohen to be reimbursed $420,000 for hush money paid to Stormy Daniels.
He is in the news again in the story about how Trump blurted insults and showed off lewd photos with the family who were sitting shivah for his mother.
Jennifer Weisselburg’s former daughter-in-law is quoted as saying:
"His whole worth is, 'Does Donald like me today?'" Jennifer Weisselberg said. "It's his whole life, his core being. He's obsessed. He has more feelings and adoration for Donald than for his wife."
She said the pair conduct their business closely after working together since the 1970s.
"You walk down the hall, it's Allen-Donald, Allen-Donald — they don't do anything separately," she said. "Allen would know everything."
He’s also in the news because he is part of the Manhattan DA’s investigation of Trump and the Trump Organization. On March 1st The NY Times published “Prosecutors Investigating Trump Focus on His Finance Chief.”
Excerpt: State prosecutors in Manhattan who are investigating former President Donald J. Trump and his family business are sharpening their focus on the company’s long-serving chief financial officer, asking witnesses questions about his dealings at the company, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
The increased focus on the executive, Allen H. Weisselberg, could step up pressure on him to cooperate with the investigation if the prosecutors unearth evidence of wrongdoing on his part. He has served as the Trump Organization’s financial gatekeeper for more than two decades and could be a vital source of information for the government about the inner workings of the company.
In recent weeks, the prosecutors working for the Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., have been interviewing witnesses who know Mr. Weisselberg and have asked at least one witness about Mr. Weisselberg’s sons, Barry and Jack Weisselberg, according to two of the people with knowledge of the matter.
Much has been written about him but I wondered if I could tell anything by looking at photos of him with Trump. I decided to do a Google image search for photos of him and Trump. File this under “a picture is worth 1000 words” only here are several pictures. (Click to enlarge) He reminded me of the comic book character, Sad Sack. That’s how I came up with the doubly alliterative title for my diary.
The oddest photo that came up in my photo search was this one illustrating a normal informative story from 2018. I suppose it was meant as an editorial comment.
Along the lines of pictures being worth lots of words, I’ve been posting links to articles from RAWSTORY on my Facebook page about Trump’s legal peril:
The list of links keeps getting longer and longer. (Click to enlarge) Just reading the titles of all the stories tells a story.
