This is really scary to me — since the bluster (if that’s what it is) is backed up with the likelihood of the US losing the war —
"The top uniformed soldier in China, chairman of China's Central Military Commission, stated that war with the United States is inevitable," Coffman said. "That is the first time China has made that statement publicly."
Coffman, who oversees development of armored vehicles in the Army's modernization effort, such as the Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle, warned that the Chinese are known for using armored forces and that they are likely to be the aggressor in a potential future conflict.
"If you are the head uniformed general in the Chinese military and you say 'it's inevitable,' what does that mean?" Coffman said. "I think that means that you are willing to strike first because, if it's inevitable, why would you wait for your adversary to strike first?"

What is REALLY concerning about this matter — is we will almost certainly lose.
The US could no longer win a war against China

and we will likely lose quickly —
'We're going to lose fast': U.S. Air Force held a war game that started with a Chinese biological attack

Now these are just war games — but we lose every single scenario —
“What many Americans don’t realize is that years of classified Pentagon war games strongly suggest that the U.S. military would lose that war…After the 2018 war game I distinctly remember one of our gurus of war gaming standing in front of the Air Force secretary and chief of staff, and telling them that we should never play this war game scenario [of a Chinese attack on Taiwan] again, because we know what is going to happen.”.
I guess, cold comfort, we could “win” a strategic nuclear war — so there is that — pretty scary “solution” to the war game. Isn’t it?
Note — Some stuff I read on this would be pay-walled — the above articles are not — which is too bad — some of that stuff is really intense about this subject.
I would just point out that the US does not do too well fighting Asian powers — we are 1-1-1 — and we only won that first one against Japan by indeed using with nuclear weapons.
The games seem to playout in this decade, so you know. Between now and 2030.
It gives us a little time to figure out a way to get out of this mess — maybe. Not holding my breath.
